9 Lesser Known Gorgeous Beaches You Must Visit

Highly Underrated Gorgeous Beaches You Must Visit Before They Get Overcrowded

#1  Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island – Australia

The Whitsunday Islands are a group of 74 Whitehaven family funislands that lie off the coast of Queensland, Australia and form part of the Great Barrier Reef.

Whitehaven Beach stretches over seven kilometres and boasts brilliant white silica sand that is among the purest in the world. Sink your feet into the sand and wade into the warm waves that gently lap the shore and you’ll soon realise why people come here from all over the world.

A place can’t possibly be more tropical, exotic-looking and stunning, all at the same time, than Queensland’s Whitsunday Island. Whitehaven Beach is so stunning that it simply destroys all competitors for the first place on this list.

For such a famous beach, Whitehaven remains something of a mystery to the scientific community. The pristine white beach consists of the purest silica sand in the world – so pure, in fact, some guides claim it was used in the manufacture of glass for the Hubble Telescope (though this is likely a myth). Nevertheless, the sand is unique – the other beaches in the Whitsundays do not feature such fine, pure sand. Rather, on other beaches you’ll find coarser sand featuring broken shells and coral.

The Sands, The Sun And The Sea Makes The Difference

That soft brilliant white sand which makes your feet squeak on is made from quartz, and can only be found at Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island. No other island; out of the 74 islands that are dotted within the Whitsundays have this same kind of sand, making Whitehaven Beach pretty special!

The sands of this beach are among the purest in the world, while the waters are crystal-clear and warm. The island, located near the Great Barrier Reef, is uninhabited, but can be reached by boat from Airlie Beach. The best way to see this unbelievably perfect beach is on a multi-day cruise.

Go swimming or snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef and be surrounded by hundreds of colourful fish.

Stunning View Spot You Will Never Forget

At the northern end of Whitehaven Beach is Hill Inlet, a stunning inlet where the tide shifts the sand and water to create a beautiful fusion of colours. Many people claim Hill Inlet and Whitehaven Beach are the most beautiful places they’ve ever seen. The lookout at Tongue Point is the best spot from which to view the swirling sands of Hill Inlet.

Some Travelers Rated Whitehaven As The Best Ever Beach

Best beach ever. Some visited the Maldives and many other Beaches, but this beats them all. Doing the trip by plane would gave you the perspective from above, doubt that one would have this experience by boat. Must be in your Bucket List.

Camping is also available on many of the islands in the Whitsundays. Some are more popular, with many backpackers, day-trippers and groups, some are less known remote and romantic.
